Summit Power Group, Inc.

Founded twenty years ago, Summit's primary business has traditionally consisted of developing power projects for would-be project owners on a success fee basis.  Summit specializes in high-efficiency natural gas-fired projects, wind power projects, and coal gasification projects with carbon capture to reduce carbon dioxide emissions (including integrated gasification combined cycle, or IGCC, projects).  Recently Summit has begun developing utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar energy projects throughout the western and southwestern U.S..  Summit also works jointly with several technology companies pursuing financing and commercial development of next-generation clean energy technologies, such as dispatchable (firm) wind power and ultra-clean underground coal gasification with carbon capture.

Summit operates through technology-specific divisions and subsidiaries.  One concentrates on wind, solar, and other renewable resources; another concentrates on gas-fired power plants; a third focuses on coal gasification with carbon capture, both in the U.S. and abroad.  Each Summit project is led by the Summit principals and staffed by Summit's deep bench of resources, including experienced full-time employees and specially-retained expert consultants.  Summit always tailors a team specific to the needs of the project, thereby providing the best expertise at the lowest cost.  In addition to its traditional project work, on a highly selective basis Summit also works on new energy technologies and other matters with potential for improved-efficiency energy applications.

Summit can handle projects from first conception through the entire process of feasibility analysis, permitting, financing, design, procurement, construction and commissioning, and also long-term operations and asset management. Summit also conceptualizes and negotiates, or assists in negotiations, for arrangements regarding (i) long-term operation and maintenance (up to 20 years) of power projects, (ii) fuel supplies, (iii) electrical transmission, and (iv) sale of the power or project capability, including for financing purposes. Summit typically obtains for its customers the benefits of full fixed-price agreements with extensive warranties, including fixed-price, long-term operation and maintenance, all backed by superior financial credit.

Characteristic of Summit's approach is its ability to find creative solutions, move quickly, resolve issues amicably, ensure that local people and governments are comfortable and supportive, keep costs to a minimum, and significantly reduce risks. Summit has had a remarkable record of overseeing the commercialization of plants on time and at or under budget, and these projects are operating in accordance with, or exceeding, design expectations. In the process of leading projects from inception to completion, Summit has not once been involved in litigation or a formal dispute.

Summit has led the development of over 4,500 MW of natural gas-fired generation in the United States. Currently, Summit is leading the development of over 2,500 megawatts of additional gas-fired, IGCC, and wind projects.  Summit has predominantly used Siemens Power Generation as its equipment supplier, as well as EPC and O&M contractor, but Summit has also used a wide variety of other manufacturers' equipment when the project benefited from doing so.
